Ugh! My TO DO list for today, my last full day in Taiwan, goes something like this: * Dentist appt (cancelled, didnt need this second appt)
* Tax office-done this am, nightmare and there is a lot of follow up to do.
* Withdrawl all money from Taiwan account (post office acct)-done, minus 162 nt ($5 US)which I care not about.
* Wire myself all remaining money to US bank account. Done, but it was a long process as well.
* mail Taiwan tax info to my tax man in Cali (yes, I have a tax man). Done easily.
* Make sure I have a res with the airport shuttle bus company for tomorrow am.Done, but with a lot of confusion.
* Confirm flight with travel agent. She actually emailed me this am before I got to email her. Nice. Thats one thing I dont have to worry about.
* Lunch with V. -well! I have to relax part of the day! Not done, going there after this internet burst.
* Sort and label the 4 rolls of film that I finally got downloaded online. Nightmare on many levels, haha. My goal is to have this finished before I leave Taiwan, but I dont think its gunna happen. We'll see.
* Mail my last "for sale" item. Done with somewhat ease.
* Jade market-not going.
* Meet J. after 9pm to hand over the scooter and cell phone. Not done yet and praying I am not exhausted enough to forget by then. lol.
* Exchange nt for US dollars. Silly me thought I could do this at the post office/bank office where I withdrew and wired money. Not so. May have to go to big bank. Tempted to leave that for Hong Kong airport. Dunno. Anyone wanna give me a back massage? Had drinks and drinks with K. last night. Ran into stalker again. Hes getting good at this, he left the bar just moments after I arrived. Nice.
 Hello Kitty car. A status symbol here in Taiwan. When I showed this picture to a local co-worker she said, "Oh, its an old one."
I am having a silent slipper fight with the hostel workers. haha. Wish I was kidding. I mentioned last week that they feel the need to move stuff around in the room while they are NOT cleaning it. Think this is their idea of helping. But it bugs me that the slippers are moved. They are house slippers (provided by them-big stack in the corner shoe rack), but I wanna use the same ones every day. And I like them in the spot I put em in. But leaving them next to my bed was not OK with them, cause they kept putting them back in the shoe rack. Growl!!!!!!!!
I started putting the slippers in different parts of my area of the dorm room to see if it was a spot in particular that needed to be clear or if the slippers were wimpering to be put back in the shoe rack.
I tried the foot of the bed, the side of the bed, under the chair I hang my towel and toiletry stuff from. No matter where I put the damn things, they would move them. I knew I had to do something drastic. So I did.
I had two pillows on the bed. One was laying flat at the top of the bed, and one was laying on its side, against the wall, the long way. So I tucked the bottoms of the slippers into the top of the pillow. They stuck out kinda like bunny ears. Would this do the trick, or would they actually see them and NOT understand the message?
I laughed so hard when I came home that night and the slippers had NOT been moved. Victory for the spoiled American in room 222. hahhahaha.
They have not touched my slippers since then. And I am sure they will be delighted when I leave tomorrow. Wondering if this will seem as funny when I have my regular, stimulating life back. hmmmmmmm.
