I am so embarrassed to be an English teacher in Taiwan right now. Read my June 29th and July 2nd postings to get background on this. But the stupid ass Fuda/Tainan Yahoo! bulletin board dispute has reached its stupidest peak.

Check out his July 7th posting. There is an apology letter in the friggin China Post today regrding this bullying issue! Unreal!

Here is the apology letter that Dan posted on the Tainan Yahoo! board on June 30, 2004:

"I would like to make a huge apology to the owners, managers and teachers of Fuda. There was no reason to mention your school's name in my poll. I never should have said anything negative about a school that I have never even seen¡K let alone visited. I just wasn't thinking.

I apologize for not removing the poll sooner but I forgot all about it and don¡¦t visit or read Tainan bulletin very often. I actually heard that I had offended you from someone else¡K not from reading it myself. If I had seen your post sooner, I would have removed it that day.

It was a stupid and unfair comment to make. There is no justification for my actions. Obviously, Fuda has gotten to be as big as it is for a reason. I have never heard anyone talk negative about your system or setup. I have been told that the teachers from your school are top notch¡K both Chinese and foreigners alike.

From speaking with my boss today, I now know that your school has an unrivaled reputation for quality in Tainan. I had no idea that just about all of your graduates can enter the schools of their choice. This is why you have built such a successful school in our community. You deserve a lot more respect than I have shown you. I was ignorant about your school and based my comment on one person¡¦s opinion.

To the small percentage of foreigners living here that actually read the bulletin¡Kplease note that my post was done with no knowledge of what Fuda is really like.

I would also appreciate it if no one else would post about this subject. There is enough drama in our lives without continuing this fiasco. You don't understand the consequences of making a stupid comment in a foreign country.

My favoite bit is his last line. For the record, I tried to stick up for Dan online, but he asked me in no unclear words to butt the hell out. I considered it a freedom of speech issue and not particularly a private battle, but have my own shite to deal with right now, so I stopped.

I am sure this posting will be highly unpopular with the Fuda powers that be, but all this shit was posted online originally-thus making it public property. So ha!
